On the first two Sundays of September the races for the “Bandera de la Concha” are held. It is the most famous “trainera” (traditional rowing boat) regatta in the Cantabrian Sea, the outstanding race of the ACT league.
From the Sea Activities section of the RCTSS we offer two options to enjoy this great sporting event.
- If you want to see the races in your own way, you can rent your kayak or SUP in our facilities.
- And if you want to ensure you find a good place, let our monitors guide you for the duration of the race. First we will paddle out to the first point at which we can see the traineras putting about, 3 nautical miles from the coast. From there we can see the different series of traineras that have classified close up.
When the regatta has finished, we will approach the entrance to the mouth of the harbour. Thousands of spectators gather there to cheer the winning trainera as its crew waves the sought-after flag.
